Week5: first month project progress report:
Thursday October 26 was my first official meeting with my supervisor. I wrote my first month progress report before the meeting, hand it to Amaar to have a look at it, then after signing it and agreeing on what to do for next month, I took to the general office for a stamp.
Whenever i think that a month has already passed by and the time left for the project submission date, i just panic, but i know i shouldn’t let this feeling come to me.
I had a great feelings of panic on Friday nigh, I was thinking that I wont have time to do anything as I always work on Sundays, and do domestics on Saturdays. However, by the grace of Allah, my mother and cousin came Saturday to help with the domestic and spending more than 5 hours on research on Saturday, gave me an immense relief
Now I have to work on 2 assignments, 3D and Multimedia Broadcasting Management simultaneously with the project.
Still trying to learn basic action script and hoping to finish it by this month. It is confusing specially when you don’t know what exactly you will be doing with it, but I hope I can come up with ideas as I go along. The most terrible thing will be if I couldn’t find ideas that could be done in action script, but I sincerely pray to
Allah to give me ideas.
Week4:Celebrating Eid
I feel very bad for not doing satisfactory work for almost a week, all the plan that I put for the week was not accomplished. I was busy for the last 7 days, getting ready for Eid, buying eid clothes, presents etc,....for family kids,
Yesterday, wile celebrating Eid, my younger daughter fall down the stairs and hurt her feet, dont know what is wrong with it, now i have to take her to the casualty "i hope it is not broken".
We came now, time is nearly 3, thank Allah her feet is not broken,
Week3: Change of plan:
I remembered that I have 3d workshop on Friday, so I decided not to go on that day, and now planning to go on Tuesday or Wednesday (insaAllah).
Today I wrote down my project plan and will post it later to my supervisor then make a meeting with him to make any changes of plan and help me brain storm my final artifact.
Yesterday a did a bit of practice on 3d, actually it was more than 4 hours, then did some practice on action script (mainly how to use variables and selections).
This afternoon I’m planning to do some more practice and do the research on Monday inshaallah.Plan for week 4:
d Visit museum and galleries, take pictures and record videos
d Assign more hours for learning lingo
d Assign more hours for research and write down outcomes
Week2: Handed Project Proposal
At last I signed the form and handed it to the general office a week before deadline.
Last week I found out that the British Museum have a collection of Islamic art work in Room34, main floor, I planned to pay a visit there and get some video and still picture to aid my research. However I found out that other museums as well have some collection, and the British museum is doing lunch lecture about Islamic art. Therefore I decided to post pone my visit till Friday 13.
Having read few chapters of simply brilliant, made realize that planning is the key for success, knowing what you want to achieve, deciding on the outcomes of your visit advance will give a clear picture weather your visit was successful or a waste of time.
I need the following:
A still camera, a camcorder, a note book, a pen and a pencil.
Find out which other museum have collections and how to get there, fees, etc
Find out if taking photos allowed or not
Get a friend to exchange ideas during the visit
Work started:
Today I started my research, I have seen quiet interesting websites, and still have the two books that I borrowed about Islamic Art before I decide on topic. I also selected few books from Amazon which talk about calligraphy.
